27 Weeks

Pregnancy Highlights:

How Far Along: 27 Weeks

Size of baby: Baby J is the size of a head of cauliflower; 14 1/2 inches long; almost 2 pounds

Total Weight Gain/Loss: 12+ pounds

Maternity Clothes: Still a mix of both.  We had three snow days plus I day I worked from home in the past week so I wore a lot of pajamas all day long and it was heaven!

Gender: Boy!

Movement: The movements were a bit all over the place this week, I think mainly because my schedule was off being home so much.  I feel him move during the night more than I did with Chloe.

Sleep: Ehh, the same.  With JJ working nights, I don’t always sleep the best.  And I know I’ve said this before, but I don’t sleep that great with him next to me either.  Kind of a lose-lose situation but I’m just getting used to it now.

What I miss: Looking in my closet and being able to just grab any outfit and it fitting.

Cravings: No big cravings this week.

Symptoms: I forgot to mention this last week but I’ve started getting leg cramps again.  We went to the store one night and I went to put Chloe in her car seat, and I guess the way I was standing made it flare up.  The whole way home it was on the verge of cramping and was so painful.  I also get them at night while lying in bed.

Best Moment this week: Pretty sure we’ve settled on a first name for Baby J!  Now we just need to come up with a middle name too.  Another good moment was I was able to skip my glucose test…but just for a week.  With all the bad weather we’ve been having, I rescheduled my appointment for next week.  But I’ll take the extra week of not having my blood drawn!

26 Weeks

Pregnancy Highlights:

How Far Along: 26 Weeks

Size of baby: Baby J is about the size of an English hothouse cucumber; 14 inches long; a pound and two-thirds

Total Weight Gain/Loss: 12+ pounds.

Maternity Clothes: Mix of both.  Probably how it will be throughout the remainder of this pregnancy.

Gender: Boy!

Movement: I’m starting to feel more body parts now, and the movements are becoming more fluid like they did with Chloe at this point.  I’m still not seeing anything from the outside though, like a lopsided belly.  I also felt hiccups for the first time.  Chloe had them a lot, so I’m curious to see if this baby will too.

Sleep: Same story.  Last night was the worst.  I felt like I pulled something or had an air bubble up under my right ribs and it lasted all night long.  Any time I would move it would flare up again.

What I miss: Sleeping through the night.

Cravings: No big cravings this week.

Symptoms: Nothing new really.

Best Moment this week: We scheduled our maternity/family photo shoot for next month!

25 Weeks

Pregnancy Highlights:

How Far Along: 25 Weeks

Size of baby: Baby J is about the size of an average rutabaga; 13 1/2 inches long; a pound and a half

Total Weight Gain/Loss:
12 lbs. I’m sure more, and will find out at my next doctor’s appointment

Maternity Clothes:
For the most part I'm in maternity clothes.

Gender:
Boy!

Movement: Happening multiple times a day.  Continue to feel kicks down low so I'm thinking he's still butt down.  He's more active during the night than I remember with Chloe.

Sleep: Not great this week.  I've been more tired than usual but I think it's just because I'm not getting a good night's sleep.

What I miss: Sleeping on my back.

Cravings: No big cravings this week.

Symptoms: Dry mouth, I have a feeling that one is here to stay.  My face broke out a little this week

Best Moment this week:
Nothing special this week really.  Kind of sad I can't even come up with one.

24 Weeks

 Pregnancy Highlights:

How Far Along: 24 Weeks

Size of baby: Baby J is about the size of an ear of corn; almost 12 inches long; just over a pound

Total Weight Gain/Loss: 12 lbs. I did confirm that at 22 weeks with Chloe I weighed one pound less than I do at this point now…but man do I feel big already!

Maternity Clothes: One of JJ’s friends from high school is coming in town from STL this weekend and bringing me some maternity clothes.  I could definitely use more of a selection!   I can still wear some regular pants, but for the most part pants are maternity.  Tops are hit and miss.  If my regular ones are long enough I can wear them, otherwise I pull out a maternity top.

Gender: Boy!

Movement: Every day.  One evening I couldn’t remember having felt him throughout the day, so I sat real still and thought about it…and sure enough, he made his presence known.  I love that.

Sleep: Not much change in this department.  I’m used to it at this point.  JJ has been staying up three nights out of the last week which is reason enough for me to stay up.  I can’t sleep when I know he’s up doing things around the house, yet I can’t sleep when he’s in bed next to me snoring.  It’s a lose-lose.  I’ve gotten up a few times in the middle of the night to go sleep in the guest bedroom.

What I miss: Being able to get up quickly without hurting. Or throw Chloe around.  I wonder if that’s part of my pain on my left side.  I always carry her on my left side, so I’ve been trying to be careful about how I pick her up, walk around with her, etc.  I just fear that I have so much further to go and it could get worse.

Cravings: Mmmm, M&M cookie bars I came across on another blog.  I’ve decided I need to bake something every week to have in the house.  At least until my glucose test at the beginning of next month (fingers crossed I pass!)

Symptoms: Yesterday I had the side pain again as I was getting ready for work.  I had to keep stopping to either bend down, or sit down but it wasn’t going away.  Strange enough as soon as I got in the car, it was gone.  I think this time around my belly button might pop out.  It didn’t last time, but it is sooooo close to doing it already.  Dry mouth continues, but maybe slightly better than previous weeks.

Best Moment this week: Really feeling the baby.  Ya know how a lot of times it’s just kicks, like a one and done movement?  But then there are times when you feel an actual body part on your side and you can reach down and touch the hard spot.  Yeah, that happened last night.  And I forgot how much I love it.  I can't wait to hold onto those little hands and feet.

23 Weeks

Pregnancy Highlights:

How Far Along: 23 Weeks

Size of baby: Baby J is about the size of a large mango; more than 11 inches long; just over a pound

Total Weight Gain/Loss: 12 pounds (holy cow – at this point in my pregnancy with Chloe I had only gained 6 pounds!  But I did start about 6 pounds heavier so maybe it all equals out)

Maternity Clothes: A mix of both, but I’ve been wearing all maternity pants lately.

Gender: Boy!

Movement: A regular occurrence, although there have been a few days when the evening rolls around and I realize I haven’t felt him much/at all.  Then as soon as I think that, he starts kicking away.  I love that.

Sleep: Not my best week.  Have to be careful rolling over already (I forgot it started this early on) and just keep waking up a lot during the night.  Haven’t had to get up to go to the bathroom though.

What I miss: Getting up from either laying down or sitting down quickly and easily.

Cravings: We might have made another pan of brownies this week…

Symptoms:  I had one day of bad stomach pain, but that’s it.  I’m excited I don’t have the rash I developed this time during my pregnancy with Chloe – I’m hoping that stays away.  The dry throat continues and I think that’s part of my problem sleeping.

Best Moment this week:  These are hard to come up with.  We aren’t getting the nursery ready, we have a lot of gear already, so there isn’t a whole lot of prep work to be done.  The biggest thing is picking out baby boy’s name which we are no closer to coming up with than we were weeks ago.  If I had to pick one I would say JJ getting to feel the baby more regularly.  And seeing my stomach move on the outside now when he kicks.

22 Weeks

Pregnancy Highlights:

How Far Along: 22 Weeks

Size of baby: Baby J is about the length of a spaghetti squash; 11 inches long; almost a pound

Total Weight Gain/Loss: guessing probably around 7 pounds

Maternity Clothes: I’ve been wearing a mix of maternity pants and tops lately, but mainly because I desperately need to do laundry (see, I told you I hate doing laundry – what am I thinking getting into the world of cloth diapers???)

Gender: Boy!

Movement: Yep, it’s a regular occurrence now but I look forward to feeling even stronger movements.  They are to the point now though where I can see my belly move.

Sleep: Sleep was a little better this past week.  I slept on the couch once, and the guest bedroom once, but JJ was to blame for that. J  I’m most comfortable on my back propped up a little, but I do try and lay on both sides throughout the night, being careful when rolling over.

What I miss: Being able to get up quickly and not feel pain.  (This is the same as my pregnancy with Chloe).

Cravings: Brownies!  Always that sweet tooth.

Symptoms:  I was going to complain about these stomach pains I’ve been having lately and how I didn’t think they were normal, yet I looked up my update from my pregnancy with Chloe, and I wrote a whole paragraph at this point on how my stomach hurt.  So I guess it’s not all that different, but I don’t remember the pains lasting so long.  I could hardly move all day Sunday.  Laying down, standing, walking, sitting, nothing eased the pain.  I was all prepared to call the doctor on Monday and of course the pain went away.  Based on my old post, it seems as though the doc said this is normal and to expect pains and twinges due to growing.  I’m also still dealing with the dry mouth during the day and at night.  I looked it up online (mistake I know) and saw it’s a common symptom of GD.  Great.

Best Moment this week:  Adding this to Chloe’s bedtime routine – now when she gives us kisses goodnight as she’s standing in her crib, we tell her to kiss the baby and she kisses my belly.  So sweet!!

21 Weeks

Pregnancy Highlights:

How Far Along: 21 Weeks

Size of baby: Baby J is about the length of a carrot; 10 1/2 inches long; ¾ of a pound

Total Weight Gain/Loss: 5 lbs.

Maternity Clothes: I finally broke out the maternity clothes over the weekend, got them all washed, and have been wearing the pants to work this week.

Gender: Boy

Movement: Still feeling slight movements a few times a day, but not too often yet.  Still very low kicks which makes me think he’s breech

Sleep: Sleep has been a bit tough.  My throat has been really dry (see symptoms) and JJ’s schedule has been way off, not coming to bed till 4 am or later.  I always wake up throughout the night if he’s not in bed.  Then when he is in bed, he’s been snoring really loud which keeps me from being able to fall asleep.  Then my mind starts wandering and I can’t shut it off.  Being a little more careful when I roll from side to side so I don’t pull anything.

What I miss: Nothing really.

Cravings: I’ve eaten ice cream a few times in the last week, haven’t had it in quite a while.

Symptoms:  Dry throat!  I don’t remember this before, but my throat gets so dry especially during the night.  Drinking something and even chewing gum doesn’t seem to help.  It almost gags me during my sleep.  Had a day of a sore belly again, but overall the symptoms aren’t too bad.

Best Moment this week:  Nothing big happened this week really.  Still trying to come up with a list of names we like.  Why do boy names have to be so hard?
